Cohiba Siglo VI
Cohiba is the flagship brand of Habanos. Exclusively created for President Fidel Castro in 1966, Cohiba and El Laguito (most famous factory today) were kept secret. For more then a decade the Cohiba was reserved as gifts for heads of state and diplomats.
Since 1982, the Cohiba is available in limited quantities on the open market.
The name Cohiba is an ancient Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves, which were smoked by these natives of Cuba. The Columbusreport testifies those as the first known form of the cigar.
The leaves of the Cohiba are the cream of the crop from the five best Vegas Fina de Primera in the areas of San Juan y Martinez and San Luis from the Vuelta Abajo region.
It is unique among the Habanos that two of the filler leaves of Cohiba, seco and ligero, are fermented a third time in barrels, which gives the blend amore smoother flavor.
Linea 1492 was created in 1992 on the occassion of the 500th Anniversary of the long and adventurous journey of discovery of Columbus.
